- Create a tag for contacts "Interested in Freelance Work"

- Add a link action that applies this tag to each contact who clicks a link in your email

Here's how the "Email Sequence for Previous Clients" automation recipe works:

1. The automation is triggered when it has been 4 months since a contact's "Last Contact Date"

2. The automation sends an email asking your past clients if they need any new freelance work done. (For best results, we recommend sending an email that opens a dialogue rather than an explicit request for more work)

3. The automation waits up to 1 week for your contacts to open the email

4. If your previous client does NOT open the email, the automation ends.

5. If your previous client opens the email, the automation waits up to 2 weeks for your previous client to gain the tag, "Interested in Freelance Work"

6. The automation checks each contact for the "Interested in Freelance Work" tag

7. If the contact has the tag, the automation sends a proposal email for a conversation discussing potential projects, and the automation ends

8. If the contact does NOT have the tag, the automation sends a second email to your client for new business

9. The automation waits up to 2 weeks for the client to gain the tag, "Interested in Freelance Work"

10. The automation checks each contact for the tag

11. If the contact has the tag, the automation sends an email asking the client for a conversation to discuss freelance projects, and the automation ends.

12. If the contact does NOT have the tag, the automation ends

NOTE: For emails that get responses in a freelance scenario, it's best practice to send your previous client a message with a helpful resource or a request to open a line of dialogue. Sending a request for new business after 4 months of radio silence will not get you the desired result.
